A new dev blog update was posted the other day over on the Battlefield Heroes (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/) website that deals with customizations, points and missions. Lets take a look:

This time we are going to clear up some concepts about customizing your Hero.

Customization items include everything you can obtain from the game store: weapons, clothes and emotes. You will also be able to obtain other items, including: abilities, missions, and convenience items.

You use weapons and abilities to take out your opponents while wearing cool outfits and mocking them with your taunting emotes. Missions let you show off really how good you are. You will be able to choose from a wide range of missions and you can take up to 3 missions into the game with you to try to complete them and gain the reward, which can be Valor Points (see below), customization items or Hero Points (see below). Convenience items are there to make your life as a Hero easier as well as to offer certain optional services. This can be everything from gaining experience faster to changing the name of your Hero.

At the beginning you will start out with only very basic items: a few simple guns and a standard issue uniform. As you progress through the game you earn Valor Points used to unlock new weapons, missions, and get some new clothing items.

Hero Points are used to unlock new abilities and to improve your starting abilities. To get Hero Points you need to complete special “Hero Missions”. As your Hero advances in level, you will gain access to more, but also more difficult Hero Missions. There will be a limit to how many Hero Points you can gain and spend on abilities so you need to plan ahead what kind of Hero you want to play.

To give a better understanding of the items we will take a quick glance at the game economy. Some items will be free, such as your starting gear and certain items that are handed out or won through competitions or tournaments, but for the most part you will acquire new items with the two different currencies: Valor Points and Battlefunds.

The easiest way to earn Valor Points is to simply play the game. For each round that you play, win or lose, you will receive some Valor Points. If you win you will get more Valor Points than if you lose. The difference between how much more the winning team gets than the losing team depends on how dominating the winning team was. If it is a really close match, then the difference will not be that big.

Another way of earning Valor Points is to complete missions. One example of a mission could be to capture 5 flags. If you take that mission into the game and then manage to capture 5 flags, you will receive a reward in form of Valor Points. The tougher the mission, the higher the reward will be.
