Hello Heroes!,
James Salt here again, Senior Producer on Heroes. This time I’m going to talk a bit about what we’ve been looking at on the forums, as well as give you a small insight into how we plan a complex project like Heroes.
Last time (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/news/heroes-update-what-are-we-up-to) we were just about to make the Forums live. Since then there’s been around 16,000 posts! You are a very talkative bunch. We like that.
Remember these forums are temporary, like the rest of this site. The real Battlefield Heroes site will have proper forums, including a search function!
On the forums you are creating a lot of fun threads. Personally I’m really liking the Heroes inspired artwork (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/forum/off-topic/bfh-artworks-lets-show-us-some), as well as looking through the suggestion threads (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/forum/suggestions). Quite a lot of the suggested emotes and clothing items have already been made, we just haven’t shown them yet.
One final thing on the forums is this thread (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/forum/suggestions/suggestion-for-a-new-poll) you may have missed. Colin Clarke is one of the designers on Heroes. He has bravely volunteered to let you decide his next hair style. It’s going to be a few months before we get to cut his hair. As he’s taking the big seven week holiday you get for being here for seven years. However, I wanted to let you all know about his promise, so we can all remind him of it in the future!

In the last blog post I also mentioned we were experimenting with adding some 3D to the real Heroes website. I saw some forum posts about the WHOLE site being in 3D, and how slow and irritating that would be. I agree. We are only looking at putting some 3D characters into the “Create a Hero” part of the site. Below you can play with the test Hero we’ve been working on, although we still need to work on making the download smaller.
There are lots of small pieces that come together to make Battlefield Heroes.
The picture here shows a small part of our planning wall:

Every ticket on the wall represents a feature we intend to make for you. Some of these features aren’t things you will see in the game. For instance some of the tickets represent server technology we need to build to make parts of Heroes work.
Surprisingly low-tech isn’t it? Over the years of trying out many high-tech software solutions, we’ve found the best way to plan our future work is to simply stick it to a wall. This way everyone can easily find out what’s coming up.
Take a look at the top left corner. There’s a lot of yellow tickets. That’s us being really busy “polishing the backend”.
That’s all for this time. See you in the forums.
