Physicists at UC Riverside have made an accidental discovery in the lab that has potential to change how information in computers can be transported or stored. Dependent on the "spin" of electrons, a property electrons possess that makes them behave like tiny magnets, the discovery could help in the development of spin-based semiconductor technology such as ultrahigh-speed computers.

with SSD storage now being as small as they are not to mention the power consumption its a sure thing. The only draw back would come from other hardware makers such as those doing video cards and their larger more power consuming products holding it back. Motherboards can be scaled down, PSU's can go smaller. Its this ATX form we need to get away from to lead the way to changes like this.
