A recent rumor posted over on DailyGamesNews (http://dailygamesnews.com/2009/06/rumour-modern-warfare-2-will-retail-at.html) gives a steep price for the next Modern Warfare game from Activision (http://activision.com). Take a look:
We've received word from a reliable source in retail that certain high street games stores have been told Modern Warfare 2 will retail with a starting price of £54.99 in the UK and that 5 different SKUs are planned for launch.
While no specific info has been released on what the 5 different SKUs will contain, you can guarantee the price will go up with each. With Modern Warfare 2 expected to shift 11 million copies easily, it's thought Activision are looking to get every penny they can from you when the game ships later this year.
Xbox 360 titles launched at £49.99 in the UK and can now be purchased in most stores for £39.99 so a £54.99 price tag sounds a little greedy. Will you still buy it? Probably. Nothings confirmed yet though so don't get your knickers in too much of a twist.
This equals out to be about 70$ US, so are gamers going to fork it out for Modern Warfare 2?
