Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick discussed the next Call of Duty title in a post earnings release conference call revealing the plans for a 2009 release. Activision Blizzard is alternating development cycles of the franchise between Treyarch and Infinity Ward to push out a new Call of Duty title roughly every year.</p>
Treyarch is currently trying to wrap up Call of Duty: World at War (http://www.shacknews.com/tag.x/Call+of+Duty%3A+World+at+War) (PC, PS3, X360) to ship this year. Infinity Ward, author of the insanely well selling (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52986) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (http://www.shacknews.com/tag.x/Call+of+Duty+4%3A+Modern+Warfare) (PC, PS3, X360) franchise on the other hand has been rumored for a while now to be at work on a shooter with a futuristic theme and of course recently re-signed with Activision to continue part time engineer time on the Call of Duty money train.
