UPDATE: Valve has cancelled this event. So nope, we will not broadcasting at this event. However you can expect to see Valve on the G4 stage during our live E3 programming where we hope to show off Portal 2 and any other surprise Valve may have.
http://cache.g4tv.com/ImageDb3/141776_S/Valve.jpgEven when Valve toys and tortures, they still manage to do so with style and wit. Case in point, an email the Half-Life 2 (http://g4tv.com/games/pc/17913/half-life-2/index/) developer just sent out that announces the “gala cancelation” of the pre-E3 Portal 2 (http://g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/63787/portal-2/index/) event Valve had previously announced would take place on June 14.
In place of the event will be a “surprise” of some kind, which one can only hope means something having to do with Half-Life 2: Episode Three (http://g4tv.com/games/pc/38754/half-life-2-episode-three/index/). If that’s the case, then there will most likely also be some discussion of how Portal 2 ties into the long, long-awaited Half-Life 2 episode.
Luckily for you, G4 will be broadcasting Valve’s pre-E3 press conference, so if you have any interest in finding out what Valve’s big surprise is, you know where to look (hint: it starts with G4).
You can find the full, quite humorous press release about the Portal 2 event shake up after the jump.
"Dear Subject Name Here,
Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word 'surprise', of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.
If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.
Thank you for
PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise."
