wireless

hi everyone

my volks were bored of the bills of DSL because i am mostly at school in another city staying in the dormitory without being able to use the DSL at home ofcourse. so they thought they could join our sites(2 high apartments) wireless thing.
this wireless is being paid by monthly bills of the site and noone pays anything else.
they(without telling me) shut the dsl down and bought (i guess they bought the worst one out there) wireless access point thing.
my question..how good is this thing? will i be able to play without lags etc?
there are 20 flors by each aparment so it means 40 flat houses by each.this wireless is brought to every flor via cables i guess.every flor or every 2 flors must have a wireless source i guess.
would you advice me to tell them to open the dsl or wait and see until i am there?
if its such a big thing it must be strong but would it be effected when everyones using it?
even the DSL is efefcted when its daytime so?
ah and think about this
its around 4000kpbs and my dsl was 1024 kpbs only

The wireless may effect gaming or latency as a whole.. really depends on the amount of objects like walls it has to go through and signal strength.
