Infinity Ward have announced details of the upcoming Call of Duty 4, 1.6 patch.
---Although this news is pretty old, the update to why we are still waiting on the patch is below the video!---
The patch is expected to be released in the coming weeks and will add a number of features including new killcams for grenades and airstrikes (details here). According to IW, version 1.6 will bring PC users up-to-date with their Xbox cousins which suggests that other features such as improved sniper and ACOG accuracy seen in the latest Xbox patch could also be included.
"Patch 1.6 will be the one that introduces the new Kill Cams and other features the console feature patches received for you guys" says IW's Director of Communications Robert Bowling. "The work is done on that patch and it’s essentially awaiting and going through internal QA here at Infinity Ward and then Activision. I will try to get a full list of what PC Patch 1.6 includes as I believe there are a few more PC specific things in there besides just the added Kill Cams and such."
Enhanced spectator support is expected to be brought across from the Xbox patch but again there is no mention of CoDTV from Bowling. An in-game TV feature remains "on the table" for IW but it would not appear currently to be a priority. Members of the community are urged to continue the campaign by providing feedback for IW on their forums.

Here is a video of the new Kill Cam!

- QA found issues with the patch that needed to be fixed
- IW decided to add more to the patch, so they held it back (maybe browser changes?)
- as 402 has said, QA staff is very limited after a game is released (they go off to other projects), so if Console patches were prioritized, the QA patch was put on the backburner for awhile
- with the DLC maps/mapping contest, IW may have had to make changes to the patch to accomodate them down the road
Its projected that this will be released tomorrow around noon which is why I'm now posting this.
